An original poem by Karen McGovern

Magda Sees All Magda Sees All

The sign in the window reads "Magda Sees All"
In faded block letters above a drawn crystal ball

Through draped beaded curtains and incense so sweet
Is a room of red velvet, Persian rugs 'neath your feet

At a table sits Magda, dressed in yards of white silk
Her lips are like rubies, her skin pale as milk

Her hair glows like autumn, colored red shot with gold
A once infamous beauty, or so I've been told

Her age is a secret, hidden behind her sweet smile
Her hand raised in greeting--won't you stay for a while?

On the wall there are photos faded amber with time
Of a lovely young Magda in her youth and her prime

She's ageless and timeless like a clock stopped mid-second
A Witch? No, an Angel, folks argue and reckon

She reads tea-leaves and tarot and asks for your palm
Foretelling your future in a voice soft and calm

The stars and the moon speak to her every night
Revealing secrets of souls that wander in and out of the light

A white dove at her shoulder, a black cat at her feet
She predicts great joys and great sorrows without missing a beat

Her own life a mystery, no one knows whence she came
But they all come to see her, they all know her name

They whisper, "Magda sees all", and it's true don't you see?
Just stop by and see her if you don't believe me

She'll tell you your secrets, your future, your past
The minutes like seconds, an hour will fly past

"No use fearing your future", she'll say as you leave
"Tomorrow's coming no matter what you'd like to believe

I tell what I see, and what I cannot see, too
What you do with this telling I leave up to you"

You'll leave light of spirit, no matter her vision
And understand that each day is a conscious decision

To travel through time on a path made of light
For a guide on this journey, visit Magda tonight.
